Seven of Cups
Minor Arcana, Cups, Water
The card
Seven cups float in cloud before a silhouetted figure, each holding something different: a face, a castle, jewels, a wreath, a dragon, a snake, a shrouded figure that glows. He is not choosing. He is looking, and the looking is delicious.
The Seven of Cups is the imagination at full power with no contact with the ground. Some of these cups contain real possibilities. Some contain what you are afraid of, and some contain nothing but the pleasure of considering them.
Seven of Cups upright
Many options and no clarity. Your imagination is producing vivid futures faster than your judgement can evaluate them, and the abundance itself has become the obstacle.
Set criteria before you look again. What must be true for an option to be worth taking? Which of these could you begin this week with resources you actually have? Anything that cannot survive those two questions is a daydream, and daydreams are worth having as long as you know which drawer they live in. Separate the dream from the fact, then pick one thing and make it real.
Seven of Cups reversed
Reversed, the fog clears. One option becomes obviously the right one, an illusion loses its glamour, and you can suddenly see which of those cups was empty all along. The decision that was impossible last month makes itself.
Disenchantment can sting. Something you wanted turns out to be less than it looked, or a person shows you their ordinary size. Take it as information rather than as loss — what you can now see clearly, you can finally act on.
🜁Thoughts
The mind is full of scenarios and possible versions of events, few of them checked against reality. There may be a genuine wish and no plan attached to it, or several wishes cancelling each other out.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Feeling coloured heavily by imagination. There may be strong attraction to a projected image, romantic fantasy running ahead of what has actually happened, or an inability to tell what one really wants from several appealing possibilities.
🜃Work and money
Many offers or ideas, none of them concrete; a creative vision that needs grounding; a proposal that looks better than it is. In money, check what is actually promised before committing to anything.
