The Tower
Major Arcana, Fire
The card
Lightning strikes a tower and the crown falls from its top. Two figures drop through the air. Nobody built this moment; it built itself, out of every crack that was ignored while the structure still looked solid.
The Tower is what happens when a false thing can no longer be maintained. It is brutal and it is honest, and the two are related. Whatever it destroys was never able to hold your weight — you simply had not been asked to stand on it until now.
The Tower upright
Something breaks suddenly: a plan, a position, a belief, a relationship, a story you had about your own life. It comes without warning, though in hindsight the warnings will all be visible.
Do not rush to rebuild the same shape. The collapse is doing something for you that no gradual process could — showing you, in one stroke, what was structural and what was decoration. In three months you will likely name this as the moment things became real. Right now, all that is required is that you keep breathing and do not sign anything.
The Tower reversed
Reversed, the collapse is either delayed or survived. You may have come close to a rupture and passed by it — a warning received in time, a truth glimpsed before it detonated. Take it seriously; the reprieve is not a reversal.
More often, this position shows someone living in a structure that has already failed, holding it up personally, exhausted by the effort of pretending. Fear of the truth is doing more damage than the truth would. What you are protecting has already fallen. Let the rest of it go before it takes more of you with it.
🜁Thoughts
Thought is shocked, fast and disordered. Certainties have come apart and the mind is racing to make a new frame out of the pieces. It is not a good moment for a permanent decision, and it is an excellent one for an honest observation.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Feelings shaken by something abrupt. An illusion about someone has broken, or a bond has hit a truth it cannot go around. There may be pain, and beneath it, unmistakably, relief at no longer having to hold the pretence.
🜃Work and money
An abrupt change — a job lost, a company restructured, a project cancelled, an exposure that changes everything. In money, a sudden expense or disruption; keep a reserve and avoid new commitments for a short while.
