The card
A path runs between two towers into hills you cannot see the far side of. A dog and a wolf howl at the moon; a crayfish climbs out of the water. Everything in this card is half-lit, and nothing in it is quite what it looks like by daylight.
The Moon governs what the mind does with insufficient information. It is not a lying card — it is a card about the stories we build to cover the gaps, and about the deep, wordless material that surfaces when the rational lights go down.
The Moon upright
You are not seeing the whole picture, and worse, you may not know which part is missing. Something is being concealed — by someone else, by circumstance, or by your own reluctance to look directly at it.
This is a time of vivid dreams, strong intuitions and equally strong anxieties, and the difficulty is telling them apart. Do not make an irreversible decision in this fog. Write down what you fear and check each item against evidence; a good half of it will not survive the test. Let the path lead you forward, but go slowly and touch the ground before each step.
The Moon reversed
Reversed, the fog begins to lift. A truth surfaces, a deception becomes visible, or an anxiety that has ruled you for months simply loses its charge and you cannot quite remember why it was so frightening. This is a real relief and worth marking.
Less kindly, the reversal can show self-deception maintained on purpose — the person who has been shown the truth twice and has decided, quietly, to keep not knowing it. If something in you has already worked out what is happening here, stop asking other people to talk you out of it.
🜁Thoughts
The mind is unsettled and imaginative in an unhelpful direction. Scenarios multiply, ordinary silences acquire meanings, and the same worry is turned over at three in the morning. Very little of this thinking is drawing on actual information.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Feelings that are strong, murky and difficult to name. There may be attraction laced with unease, jealousy without evidence, or a genuine sense that something is not being said. Both people may be projecting more than they are perceiving.
🜃Work and money
Unclear terms, incomplete information, work involving image, art, night hours, psychology or the hidden. In money, check the details twice — this is a classic position for an omission in a contract or a cost that was not mentioned.
