Ten of Pentacles
Minor Arcana, Pentacles, Earth
The card
An old man sits with two dogs beneath an archway while a couple talks and a child reaches for a hound. Three generations in one courtyard, ten coins arranged over the whole scene like a family tree.
The Ten of Pentacles is wealth that outlives the person who made it. Not a good year — a structure: a house, a business, a family, something that will still be standing when you are not.
Ten of Pentacles upright
Long-term security. A stable union, property, an inheritance, a family business, the approval of the people who matter, a foundation that will hold for decades rather than months.
This is the strongest material card in the deck and it thinks in generations. Build for the long horizon: sign the deeds, make the arrangements, take the boring durable option over the exciting fragile one. What you establish now is likely to outlast the situation that prompted it.
Ten of Pentacles reversed
Reversed, the foundation is compromised. Family conflict over money, an inheritance disputed, a business whose numbers do not survive inspection, respectability maintained at the cost of every genuine relationship inside it.
There is also the weight of tradition: a life lived to a family template nobody has questioned in forty years, obligations inherited rather than chosen. Security is worth having. It stops being worth having the moment everyone inside it has to be slightly false in order to maintain it.
🜁Thoughts
Thought is on the serious long term: family, a shared home, practical compatibility. Relatives' opinions and social standing may genuinely be part of the calculation here.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Dependable attachment and the wish for a long union and a shared life. Feeling is expressed through responsibility, through inclusion in the family, and through plans that assume you will still be there.
🜃Work and money
A large stable business, a family enterprise, real estate, pensions, long-term investment. One of the strongest cards in the deck for material durability.
