Strength
Major Arcana, Fire
The card
A woman closes the lion's mouth with her bare hands and there is no strain on her face. She has not defeated the animal; she has made peace with it, and the peace is what holds. Above her floats the same infinity sign the Magician wears — power, but the kind that renews rather than spends.
Strength is the card of the long fight won quietly. It is patience with your own nature, the courage that shows up without an audience, and the discovery that the softer approach was the stronger one all along.
Strength upright
You have more endurance in you than the situation has pressure. Something difficult is being overcome gradually rather than dramatically, and it is your steadiness — not your force — that is doing the work.
This card counsels warmth over confrontation. The person or problem in front of you will not respond to being pushed, but it will respond to being met calmly and consistently. Fear does not have to be gone before you act; it only has to be carried. Handle it the way she handles the lion: without violence, and without letting go.
Strength reversed
Reversed, the inner animal gets loose or gets locked in. Either anger you have been swallowing for months arrives all at once and misaddressed, or you have clamped down so hard that nothing moves — no appetite, no spontaneity, no honest reaction.
There may also be a hollowness where confidence should be, and a corresponding hunger for other people's approval to fill it. You are stronger than the version of yourself you are currently negotiating with. Stop trying to conquer your own nature and start listening to what it has been trying to tell you.
🜁Thoughts
Thought is measured and inwardly focused. There is an effort to understand rather than to react, to hold a difficult feeling long enough to see its shape. Impulse is noticed and not obeyed.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Deep, warm, patient feeling with real staying power. Attraction here includes tenderness and the willingness to accept someone's difficult parts. Strained, it becomes tolerance stretched past its use — enduring what should have been addressed.
🜃Work and money
Work requiring patience, resilience under pressure, dealing with difficult people, healing and helping professions, anything where persistence beats brilliance. Money improves through steady effort rather than a decisive stroke.
