Judgement
Major Arcana, Fire
The card
An angel sounds a trumpet and figures rise from their graves with their arms open. Nobody is being condemned in this image. They are being called — by name, and unmistakably.
Judgement is the card of the summons you cannot unhear. Something in your life is asking to be answered: a purpose, an unfinished matter, a version of yourself that has been waiting underground. It also carries absolution. The point of a reckoning is not punishment; it is that the account is finally closed and you may go on.
Judgement upright
You are being called. A realisation arrives that reorganises how you understand the past — the same facts, suddenly meaning something different. People often describe this moment as waking up.
Act on it. A decision that has been forming for a long time is ready to be made, an old matter is ready to be settled, and forgiveness — of someone else or of yourself — becomes genuinely possible rather than theoretically advisable. What you resolve now closes for good. That is rarer than it sounds.
Judgement reversed
Reversed, the call goes unanswered. You know what you are being asked to do and you are finding reasons — sensible ones, mostly — not to do it. The knowledge does not go away; it just gets heavier.
This position also shows judgement turned inward and made cruel: relentless self-criticism, an old failure replayed for years, a sentence you long ago passed on yourself and never reviewed. You are holding court over a person who no longer exists. Let the verdict expire and let the matter close.
🜁Thoughts
Thought is reviewing the past — what happened, what it meant, what should have been done differently. There is a reckoning going on, and if it is honest it will end in release rather than in another circuit of blame.
🜄Feelings and relationships
Feelings surfacing from a long way back. An old relationship may return, literally or in the mind, asking to be understood rather than resumed. There is real potential for forgiveness here, and for a bond to be remade on truer terms.
🜃Work and money
A calling rather than a job, a decisive turn in direction, an old project revived, a result finally recognised. In money, an accounting closes: a debt settled, a claim resolved, a long matter finished.
